Woodlot Management
Silv-Econ Ltd. has a demonstrated track record exceeding 20 years in sustainable forest management in southern Ontario. We have developed and implemented forest management plans for hundreds of private woodlots and forests managed in a municipal government environment. Forest Insects and Invasive Species
Silv-Econ Ltd. has the expert knowledge and practical experience to survey, detect, monitor and map native and non-native forest insect pests, and invasive plant species in forests. This work often involves collaborative partnerships with universities, government agencies and municipalities.
Research and Special Projects
Silv-Econ Ltd.’s staff have extensive experience in research on forest insects, roadside tree health, forest growth and yield, timber supply, and timber valuation. Our staff have postgraduate University degrees in forest sciences and a proven track record of providing results. We are often contracted to conduct specialized, complex projects such as detecting and monitoring soil moisture in forest and urban settings, establishing forest growth monitoring plots, and estimating the sustainable timber supply for industrial forests.

Silv-Econ Ltd. is Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified as a Group Manager of forest properties. Woodlots in the company’s Certified Forests Program are identified as FSC Certified Forests and receive benefits that might not otherwise be available to non-certified forest owners.
